Calling all you fine Mertonians, it’s time to shake off the summer bellies as pre-season training commences on WEDNESDAY 18th JULY at our beloved Joseph Hood Recreation Ground (SW20 9BU), starting at 7pm, and finishing at 8:30pm. All newcomers interested in joining the club are welcome to attend too.

Training will be the usual mix of fitness, drills and a practice match, and you are advised to bring your own kit (bibs will be provided), and suitable boots for what is likely to be a firm grass pitch.

Training will run every Wednesday thereafter at the Hood, while Saturday pre-season friendlies get under way from Saturday 4 August (season proper starts early September). That gives you three weeks to whip yourself into respectable shape, so that we can start the season on the front foot!

Look forward to seeing you all then, as we embark upon what should be another highly enjoyable year for our great club…

YESSSS! The 6s are ‘Championes’, Kev’s lads did it today securing a point in a very high quality game against South Bank and celebrated in style and will continue celebrating. Well done lads in bringing some much needed silverware to the Hood. The 1s beat Old Finchleans 1-0 with a Vanny goal to secure Div 2 football again next season. The 2s lost heavily to an accomplished and effective Old Owens side. The 3s won 2-1 with goals from Luke and Glenn.  7s lost 2 – 4 against Old Salesians.

It is a well known fact that the more effort you put into clearing the pitch to get a football match played the less likely you are to get anything from it. And so it proved at the Hood Thanks to sterling work from Chris Outred and Aaron Ackerman the games went ahead at the Hood but both games were lost. The 1s lost 0-2 to Ally Pally (Snooks MOM and Siri the sinbinned GK deservedly DOTD) The 5s lost 4-0 to Civil Service with Chris and Aaron joint MOMs . There was no scheduled game for the 2s and the 3s and 4s were called off late in the day. Something that is happening to often nowadays in the SAL. The 7s drew 2-2 BUT or title chasing 6s produced the performance of the day to win 8-2 and keep our hopes of a trophy alive. Well done lads,

Results and pics.

The 6s lost their cup final 4-0 to Old Finchleians. This was an epic cup run and they put up a great show but it was not to be. Back in the League The 1s beat Crouch End Vampires 5-1. (MOM Sam Harvey/DOTD Chaz) a great second half performance thwarted by CEVs Keeper who made at least three amazing saves. 2s no game as The Warren cried off a double header letting our boys down for the second time. 3s lost 4-3 at the Hood to Old Alleyns. 4s had a double header at Actonians Assoc winning the first 1-0 but losing the second 3-0. 5s won 3-0 away at City of London. (MOM Ryan Burchell, Kieron Lee DOTD) aaron Byrne 2 goals. 7s no game.
